THE CANTON HOSPITAL is in an extremely critical condition. herefore, instead of discussing ad infinitum what is a perfect scheme in very detail let us do something for a start, making sure that it is on ight lines, and time and experience will help us to build wisely on this ure foundation.
The attached leaflet gives a concise account of the past history of Canton Hospital and its present strategic position as the centre of edical missionary work in South China.
It is desirable that the important task of its reorganization shall be complished by the closest co-operation of the Canton Christian College ad the other Missions working in the Canton province. This will only be ossible if there is a frank and free understanding between all parties.

e Rockefeller Foundation to bring before the Board of Trustees pf the hton Christian College and the Boards of other missionary organizations Aterested the resolutions adopted by the China Medical Missionary Associa- on at ita conference in Peking, February, 1920, and subsequently endorsed the Board of Directors of the Canton Hospital (Canton Medical Missionary in) at its meetings of March 16 and May 10, 1920.
Resolutions of C.M.M.A. conference at Peking:
"That the Canton Hospital should be made a well-equipped and ficiently administered institution, providing for the healing of the sick, pecially the poor, and at the same time assieting in the training of inese physicians under Christian influences,
"That the Board of Trustees of the Canton Christian College be urged become the nucleus of a new Directorate which shall include represent- ives of the Canton Medical Missionary Society, and such other Mission
ris in the United States, Canada, Great Britain and Australasia as wish *o-operate. This Directorate shall undertake the responsibility of organizing, staffing, equipping and developing the Canton Hospital in Tsuance of the above objects.
"That the Canton Medical Missionary Society and the Missionary Boards the United States, Canada, Great Britain and Australasia working in th China be urged to co-operate with the Board of Trustees of the Canton Fistian College in the manner above indicated for the recrganization and
